Gallery Guidelines

Coast Radar wants to build up a comprehensive photo gallery showing as many of the beach or coast locations as possible. Please follow our guidelines for photographers as stated below:

  • All submissions will only be considered from a registered user of Coast Radar.
  • Professional photographers may have own specific gallery with access to upload photos at any time. Please contact us for more details.
  • Digital photo guidelines:
    (a) Our preferred format for digital images is JPG or TIFF. Images taken with digital cameras should be created using the highest-quality RAW or JPEG setting (usually marked "fine" or "high") on your camera. TIFF images should be saved with LZW compression.
    (b) DO name your image files. Please name your images with the subject, location, your name (or initials) and the suffix indicating the files' format. Separate the subject, location and name by an underscore dash: ( _ ) Please do not send raw image files with the default file names generated by the camera (such as D001001.JPG).
    (c) DO submit multiple image files on CD. Please only submit single digital image files via e-mail.
    (d) DO include a cover note. Include as much detail about the location and conditions as possible.
    (e) DO NOT crop your images. Leave the cropping to use.
    (f) DO NOT alter photos. Images should not be corrected for colour, sharpness, size, or colour mode. Again, it's best if you leave this work to us.
  • You hereby allow the photo to be used under the Creative Commons Licence which means the image must be credited to you the contributor when re-used.
  • Your submission of the Photo to Coast Radar is made with the understanding that Coast Radar shall give the Photo such consideration as deemed suitable in their sole and final discretion and judgment, and Coast Radar are under no obligation to You whatsoever if Coast radar do not review the Photo or do not desire to use or post the Photo on the Coast Radar website. Coast Radar is under no obligation to release to You or advise You of the Coast Radars' actions, or the reasoning behind their actions, in connection with their review or any use of the Photo.
  • YOU HEREBY WAIVE AND DISCHARGE ANY CLAIMS AGAINST COAST RADAR PERTAINING TO THE PHOTO. YOU SHALL NOT BE ENTITLED TO ANY COMPENSATION BY COAST RADAR FOR THE REVIEW AND/OR USE (IN ANY MANNER) OF THE PHOTO, OR ANY PORTION THEREOF, THAT IS SUBMITTED HEREUNDER. NOTHING STATED IN THIS SUBMISSION AGREEMENT CONSTITUTES AN ADMISSION OF ANY FACT OR WAIVER OF ANY RIGHT, REMEDY OR DEFENCE AVAILABLE TO COAST RADAR AND COAST RADAR HEREBY RESERVE SUCH RIGHTS, REMEDIES AND DEFENCES TO THE FULL EXTENT OF LAW, IN EQUITY AND BY AGREEMENT.
  • You hereby represent and warrant that:
    (a) You are the sole originator and owner of the Photo and any copyright related thereto and that no third party has any right, including, without limitation, moral rights, title or interest to the Photo;
    (b) Neither the License nor the Photo nor the Coast Radar review, use or posting thereof, will violate any personal or property rights of any third party, including but not limited to, copyright, privacy, moral or other intellectual property rights, nor shall the Photo or the review thereof constitute defamation, libel or slander against any third party;
    (c) You have the full right and authorization to grant the License and to submit the Photo to Coast Radar upon all of the terms and conditions herein stated;
    (d) No party other than You created the Photo nor do any parties other than You have any rights in such Photo inconsistent with Your agreement hereunder.
  • YOU HEREBY AGREE TO INDEMNIFY, DEFEND AND HOLD HARMLESS COAST RADAR FROM AND AGAINST ANY CLAIM, LOSS, OBLIGATION, LIABILITY OR EXPENSE THAT MAY BE ASSERTED AGAINST OR INCURRED BY COAST RADAR IN CONNECTION WITH THE PHOTO SUBMITTED HEREUNDER, ANY USES OF SUCH PHOTO BY COAST RADAR OR ANY BREACH OF ANY REPRESENTATION OR WARRANTY MADE BY YOU.
  • You have retained a copy of the Photo and agree that Coast Radar shall not have any obligation to return the copy of the Photo submitted hereunder and that Coast Radar shall be under no obligation for any loss or damage to the copy of the Photo You have submitted.
