Coast Radar iPhone Application :: User Guide

 

Application launch

Coast Radar splash screenspacerTap on the "Coast Radar" icon on the home screen of the iPhone/iTouch to open the Coast Radar application. You will see a splash screen and then the view will change to a map that zooms into your current location. The current location is indicated by a blue dot.

You now need to select nearby locations.

 

 

 

 

Select Nearby Locations

Coast Radar splash screenspacerYour map will be empty until you tell us what you are interested in.

To find nearby locations you have to select the category you want to search for. Once you select a category we will fetch the markers and display them on the map as purple pins. If we can't find any locations you will receive an error message. This will be due to your location being too far from the coast or we have not had any entries added for your area.

 

 

 

 

 

Marker Select

Coast Radar splash screenspacerYou map will have a number of markers indications locations of interest. To find out more information about the location you must tap on the purple pin. You will see a small description displayed and under the Coast Radar logo you will see the category of the entry. To find more information about the location touch the blue arrow and a detailed page is displayed.

Reposition the map by dragging your finger, zoom in by a double tap and zoom out by a two finger tap. If you want to move the map outside of your original search area you will need to reposition your location by setting a green pin with a double tap. You can then find nearby locations to this new point of interest.

 

 

 

Marker Details

Coast Radar splash screenspacer Coast Radar splash screenspacerThe actual detail showed varies depending on each category. You can see a beach and accommodation entry to the left. Some detailed pages have links to more information on external websites, these are displayed within the application and you can use the arrows at the bottom to move forwards and back through the detailed entry. To return to the map either hit the Done or the Coast Radar logo at the top.

If an external website is shown use double tap to zoom in and out.

 

 

 

 

List View

Coast Radar splash screenspacerThe default is a map view but you can switch between map and list by selecting the List button at the bottom of the map view page. The list view is shown with the closest to your current location. Selecting an item will take you to the standard detail view. At any time you can go back to the map view by either clicking the Coast Radar logo or Map View button at the top.

 

 

 

 

 

Search

Coast Radar splash screenspacerFirst select a category in which you want to search and then enter any search text and hit Search.

We will search through titles and addresses of the category you have selected. The results will be listed with the ones closest to your current location at the top. If you select a result you will be asked to set the location, say yes and a map with a green pin set to the location will be displayed. You then need to use Nearby locations to populate the map with markers.

 

 

 

 

 

Notes

    • If contact details have an email address or phone number just tap and you will make a call or open your email client.
    • At any time you can change the marker category by selecting the Nearby locations button and then choosing a new category.
    • Coast Radar iphone application requires an internet connection and access to your location, either through GPS or WiFi.
