Coast Radar iPhone Application :: FAQ
What devices?
Your iPhone or iTouch needs internet access to work as we require your current location and then to fetch results based on this information.
Nearby locations not found!
We will try and find markers based on your location but in some circumstances none may be found. This could be as a result of:
- The current location is too far from the coast, or
- We have not populated your location yet.
Coast Radar plans to have a worldwide view but this will take time. Our accommodation listings already cover most of the world but other categories are being researched. Our first focus is on the UK and Australasia. To find out our current coverage use the worldwide maps on the main Coast Radar website.
The location map is not correct?
On launching the Coast Radar application we wil ask the iPhone what the current location is and then set the map to this location using a blue marker to indicate the spot. If the location is not correct this can be down to:
- The phone is slow in fetching the location. This has been seen when the phone has not been used and you have travelled some distance, then at the new location you go straight into the Coast Radar application without doing anything else on the phone. To rectify either wait for a response or close and re-open the application.
- We only fetch the location on launch so if you have moved but kept the application open it will show your old location. To recify either set manually to the new location by tapping twice (you will see a green marker) or close and open the application.

Map: How to set a new location?
The map will start based on your current location, a blue dot and to change your location you can either:
- Double-tap which will set a new location, a green pin
- Use the search feature, if you select the search result you will be asked to change your location to that of the result. Note that you wil need to select "nearby locations" to fetch a set of markers for the new location.
